Hello, this is Sergei.
This week Ulrike Langer wrote an interesting newsletter about how newsrooms are using AI to improve their revenue (spoiler: it’s still far from common practice). While preparing it, she used the AI For Newsroom MCP server to collect and analyze data from our database.
Here’s my quote from the newsletter on why AI is still rarely used to improve monetization:
“It seems to me that we’re trapped by the ‘generative’ nature of modern AI. It’s very difficult to think beyond ‘write a text’ or ‘generate an image.’ The most underrated capability of AI is dealing with mess and chaos—and every dataset is, in some way, mess and chaos. That’s why I believe AI-driven monetization should start with data.”
⚡️ One important announcement: This newsletter is going on vacation till September 4th and will be weekly composed not by me, but by AI agent named SociAl Pacino :)
In the meantime, if you have any questions or just want to share your thoughts, I’d love to hear from you — just reply to this email anytime.
