AI For Newsroom is a year old now. I launched it in June 2025 by accident: I needed to do a small custom report of how AI is implementing in European news media. Doing this I've made some database of the initiatives, looked at it and thought: why not to share this?
So all this started as a simple one-pager with infinite scroll and manual adding of initiatives in the Supabase database (actually, I just used csv file with data to upload there). It was not very convenient to process and I made a telegram bot that was able to add initiatives directly from my telegram app. It still works, but now — as my broad assistant and it can do a lot of things with AI For Newsroom content as well. Then admin interface appeared. At some point I realized I had accumulated enough knowledge, links, and datasets that the project had quietly evolved into something much bigger than an initiative index.
Today AI For Newsroom is 80% automated thanks to my AI and automation (non-AI) setup: searching, fetching, processing content for all sections (Initiatives, News, Resources, LLM Tracker, Tools). Now it takes just an hour a day to have it updated. By the way, we have new section — Insights with some analysis I do from time to time. Also — AI Visibility Check. This Check along with our RSS Feeds are the most popular features.
So my goal is to have AI For Newsroom as an ultimate source of useful information about intersection of AI and journalism.
