Hello! This is Sergei.
This is the last newsletter of 2025. Finally, the year is over. I thought about doing a classic end-of-year recap, but decided against it. You’ll probably get plenty of those anyway, and the world can survive just fine without one more.
I just want to say thank you for being subscribed and to wish you all the best in 2026. Hopefully, next year we’ll start moving out of the AI chaos and toward a clearer understanding of what we actually need from AI in our newsrooms — and how to make it work for us and with us, not instead of us.
📰 Before the year ends, I want to share a list of curated sources that write about the news media industry. I follow all of them via Feedly and read them daily. Hopefully, you’ll find them useful too.
🎧 And if you like music and actually know it, here’s my small pet project from this year — Sevenly. It’s a daily music quiz with two rounds a day: one AI-generated (yes) and one human-curated. Maybe it’ll unlock a few music memories for you over the holidays.
